Guar gum, in one sentence. It's a thickening/binding gum extracted from the seed of guar (cluster bean, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba), used in food, pharma, textiles — and, at a scale that once dwarfed all its other uses, as a viscosity additive in hydraulic fracturing fluid.
